Until recently Jeremy Beake worked for Wycombe District, where he was not only responsible for Diversity and Cohesion, but also Children’s and Young People work, Community Centres and managed a Drugs Project.
His responsibilities have led to work, both at a County level, where he led the PAYP programme, to corporate work in championing Equality in the Council.
Wycombe District Council was short-listed for Beacon Status in 2005 for Promoting Race Equality and has reached level 5 of the present Equality Standard.
Jeremy has degrees in both Theology and in Islamic Studies. Jeremy has been a member of networks in the South East and Midlands on Equality and Community Cohesion.
He has written several guides for local service providers and agencies, including “Planting seeds for change: Community Cohesion Guidance”.
Prior to joining WDC in 1999, Jeremy worked in the fields of Community Development and Equality in North Manchester and Oldham.
Jeremy has worked in many communities both in the UK, North Africa and Pakistan and managed development projects as diverse as Health Projects in Islamabad to Children’s Clubs in Liverpool.
